Marcio Gonçalves da Silva, better known as Professor Marcinho in the capoeira world, was born on December 20, 1979 in Londrina, Parana. Marcinho started capoeira at the age of 11 with Mestre Fran and Professor Senzala in Londrina with the program Projeto Brincando, Educando, e Formando Cidadoes. After dedicating six years of his life to capoeira, Prof. Marcinho received his professor cord on December 20, 1996. He then began to help Mestre Fran teach in schools, gyms, and other public spaces. In 1999, Marcinho, along with Mestre Fran, instituted Projeto Ginga in the local schools. He continued to teach in Londrina until 2002 when he moved to Portugal in order to expand capoeira further. In Portugal, Prof. Marcinho performed shows with fire in various places.
