Monitor Russo
Roman Sandler, known as Russo in the Capoeira world, was born in Chernovtsi, Ukraine in 1981. While attending Georgia State University, Russo watched a Capoeira class being taught by the world renowned Francisco da Silva, better known as Mestre Fran. The combination of martial arts, music, acrobatics and culture captured his attention. Russo has been training ever since and earned his current ranking of Estagiario in 2008.

Estagiario Russo is currently the lead instructor of Grupo Maculele Atlanta. Under his leadership, Maculele Atlanta has performed at many cultural events all of over Atlanta such as Georgia State University International Festival, Beija Noite organized by the non-profit foundation, 2 Brothers and many others.

Estagiario Russo's mission is to spread the art of capoeira in Atlanta, while honoring the all the hard work that the first teachers in the United States put out to plant the seeds of capoeira.
